All my top quality stones are sourced from Professional Registered International Gemstone auctions so I’m often able to get incredible prices on stunning genuine natural Sapphires, plus many other rare unique precious and semiprecious gemstones. These are a pair of genuine natural earth-mined Queensland Boulder Opal hook earrings.These are a matching pair of Australian Boulder Opal cabochons, both cut from the same slice. The thing that jumped out at me when I first saw these opals was the unusual apricot-pink colour of the fiery opal veins running through the Queensland ironstone. I’ve never come across pink in opals very often so of course I had to make a pair of earrings with these unique gems.Boulder opal is a variety of precious opal that forms in ironstone matrix, in Queensland, or quartzite matrix, in South Australia. In Queensland the opal is deposited in small veins or voids within the ironstone and is known as boulder matrix opal.I have set these opals into four-pronged drop settings and paired them with an elegant style of long French hooks. The surface of the teardrop hooks is smooth and super shiny, in the photos it looks like they have small surface abrasions but in person they are perfect. These are made with genuine 925 hallmarked solid sterling silver four-pronged settings and solid sterling silver hooks.I’m a big believer in educating people in how to recognise genuine gemstones and there is a lot of information that can be found on the internet on how to do that.
