This item is for the faceplate for fitting a Rapidfire receiver module to the front of the DJI Digital FPV goggles. Two SMA nuts are included. The DJI goggles and Rapidfire module are NOT included and images of these are shown only to aid fitment. Note that the faceplate is printed in Nylon 12 using the HP MultiJet Fusion (MJF) process and is thus solid, not layered like most 3D prints. This is a high quality part. The face plate should be installed as follows. 1. As the Rapidfire module will be installed as deep into the headset as possible, it is advised to put Kapton tape over the conductive EMC screen on the right display as shown. 2. Using your existing module wiring, installed as per instructions that can be easily found online, insert the module by sliding it right into the aperture towards the centre of the goggles such that the rear PCB goes into the aperture and the USB connector sits on top of the plastic surround. Slide it sufficiently towards the centre to allow the rear PCB to also drop into the aperture at the SMA end as shown below. Note that it is advised to fit a ferrite ring on the power feed to the receiver to eliminate noise for the best video performance. 3. The module should then be positioned thus. 4. In order to securely mount the module to the faceplate it should be secured with an SMA nut on the lower connector. This will pull the rear PCB forward, sandwiching the front PCB up against the faceplate. To prevent putting strain on the PCBs, or even the display, run one of the supplied nuts down the lower SMA connector and align it with the flats at the top and bottom horizontal so it will ultimately sit in the back of the faceplate as shown below. The nut should be run down the threads of the lower connector such that the surface of the nut touching the faceplate is approx 2mm above the plane of the PCB. Please see the red arrow below for this measurement. 5. With the module aligned, fit the faceplate over it, securing using the two original faceplate screws. Then fit the other supplied SMA nut over the lower SMA connector and tighten. You should feel this tighten quickly if the nut behind the faceplate is positioned correctly, otherwise it’s too far back and you’re flexing the faceplate. As you tighten the nut you will may need to hold the upper SMA connector to prevent the module turning clockwise slightly. You should aim to end up with the button positioned centrally as shown below. With no antenna fitted the module gets quite warm, but is fine with antennae conducting the heat away… the SMA connectors conduct heat well! When not using analog, go into the Rapidfire menu and disable the receiver by selecting the ‘Both Off’ option in the ‘Antenna Selection’ menu. This cuts the power consumption and thus heat dissipation considerably, and also allows another video source to be plugged into the Aux input should you wish to.Credit to Crazyguy_FPV for the original blank faceplate design.
