The function of this tube is to vent the gas tank filler neck. It is connected to the filler neck by a short piece of rubber hose. This tube is always rusted where it goes through the rubber grommet. This is a tin coated steel tube that has a copper lining and features the correct hose bead and the tube has the special crimp that allows fumes to escape but not liquid fuel.
